Pilgrimage Church St. Marien, Weidingen
25 AUGUST 2019, 3 PM

For the closing of the summer programme and the exhibition of the Chinese artist Zhang Wei, the Stiftung zur Förderung zeitgenössischer Kunst in Weidingen invites you to the Pilgrimage Church St. Marien, located next to the Günther Förg Library. On this occasion the renowned organist Winfried Bönig will give an exclusive concert.

Bönig has been cathedral organist in Cologne since 2001 and professor of artistic organ playing and improvisation in the Catholic Church Music course at the Musikhochschule Köln since 1998. In addition to numerous international guest appearances, Bönig's concert activities also have their centre in Cologne Cathedral, where he conducts the series of summer Orgelfeierstunden – one of the best-attended series of church music events in the world. In 1995, he was awarded the prestigious Kulturpreis der Stadt Memmingen for his musical work.

This concert will give the unique opportunity to experience Bönig in the intimate setting of the baroque pilgrimage church St. Marien on the renovated two-manual Klais organ, which was built in 1903, based on the historic case from 1770.
