Am Rodenhof

On the hilltop

A short walk from the town centre of Weidingen, the Rodenhof offers spectacular views of the South Eifel region. Two magnificent sculptures grace the top of the hill: a monumental concrete work by Albert Oehlen and a striking bronze sculpture by Rebecca Warren, both adding new artistic perspectives to the existing landscape.

Albert Oehlen
Ömega Man, 2023

Albert Oehlen’s monumental sculpture Ömega Man, 2023, emerges from the vast landscape of the Südeifel. Its simplified form and slightly raised steel bars, recessed into their concrete casting, evoke the lightness of a drawing. Here, the persistent importance of the line in Oehlen’s work becomes evident, appearing simultaneously curved and controlled.

Rebecca Warren
Man and the dark, 2012

Man and the dark, 2016, is a large-scale bronze and steel sculpture. A pair of naked legs in full stride in high, heavy shoes is supported on a platform with bronze-cast wheels set at various angles, which oddly, and with some pathos, counteract the forward momentum of the legs.
