Foundation for the Promotion of Contemporary Art in Weidingen

The Stiftung zur Förderung zeitgenössischer Kunst in Weidingen (Foundation for the Promotion of Contemporary Art in Weidingen) was founded by Max-Ulrich Hetzler and Samia Saouma in 2012. The foundation aims to promote contemporary art and culture through permanently installed sculptures and exhibitions in Weidingen. Artists may live and work on-site in preparation for and during their exhibition. Until today, the foundation has presented work by artists including Albert Oehlen, Inge Mahn, André Butzer, Toby Ziegler, Tursic & Mille, Darren Almond and Thomas Struth. In conjunction with the exhibitions, concerts and performances are organized in Weidingen, involving representatives of both traditional and contemporary music such as Mats Gustafsson, Tarek Atoui, Sofia Jernberg and Erwan Keravec, Sven-Åke Johansson and Evan Parker.

Across four locations, the foundation also presents a diverse selection of sculptures by internationally renowned artists such as Albert Oehlen, Rebecca Warren, Georg Herold, Günther Förg, Ernesto Neto, Ida Ekblad and Darren Almond. The purpose-built Bibliothek Günther Förg houses around 3000 books from one of the artist's libraries alongside sculptures by Günther Förg, Rebecca Warren, Ulrich Rückriem and Toby Ziegler.
